Michelle Toledano

Michelle Toledano

Head of School

Michelle Toledano has been involved in Jewish Education for the past 29 years. She has a BA in Psychology and a Bachelor and Masters in Education. She taught English and Math for 17 years before joining our school in 2006. As an administrator at Herzliah, Mrs. Toledano worked with Secondary I and II students. She later became Principal of the Beutel Talmud Torah Campus located in Ville St. Laurent. During her tenure, she oversaw the successful consolidation of the two elementary schools unifying all under one roof on the Snowdon Campus. Her vision and leadership continues to bring together families and staff, creating the beautiful and unique mosaic that makes up Azrieli-Talmud Torah.

Michelle Toledano is the new Head of School at Azrieli Schools Talmud Torah and Herzliah effective July 1, 2020.

“Bonjour Mme Toledano” is the greeting that is affectionately called out by our students whenever they see her throughout the school.

Lorne Grintuch

Lorne Grintuch

Director of the English School

Lorne Grintuch has been part of our school community for 12 years.  “Mr.G”, as he is affectionately called by the students, began his career at Herzliah as a mathematics and science teacher before taking on the role of  coordinator and then Assistant Principal. He brings much enthusiasm, energy, and experience to all that he does for our students, our faculty and our school.

Before Herzliah, Mr. Grintuch gained valuable experience working in the public school sector and with various youth programs. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology and education.

Claudine Habre

Claudine Habre

Director of the French School

Claudine Habre has a Bachelor’s degree in communication psychosociology and in teaching in French at the secondary level. Mme. Habre has taught French and univers social at Herzliah since 2007.  With her educational background and rich cultural experiences, she has been able to inspire students while teaching them effective learning strategies.

Mme. Habre coordinated the French program for several years in our primary and secondary schools always emphasizing the importance on public speaking.

Karen Gazith

Karen Gazith

Academic Dean

Dr. Karen Gazith has served as the Dean of Academics at Les écoles Azrieli Schools for the past six years. Dr. Gazith has worked with our teachers to deliver a curriculum based upon a revolutionary Challenge-Based Learning model of teaching.

Prior to her time at our schools, Dr. Gazith worked at Federation CJA as the Interim Executive Director of the Bronfman Jewish Education Center and Director of Education for over 18 years. Her career began at Hebrew Academy where she worked for 13 years as the director of their resource program. She is a Faculty Lecturer at McGill University’s Department of Education and Counselling Psychology.

David Azerad

David Azerad

Director of Judaic Studies

After graduating from Herzliah, David Azerad went on to Yeshiva University where he majored in Jewish Education and minored in Psychology. Upon returning to Montreal, Mr. Azerad used his musical talents to start the Kol Simcha band. 

Mr. Azerad has been Director of Jewish Studies since 2007 and was part of the team that introduced the Lookstein program to our elementary and high school.  Mr. Azerad works to ensure that each student has the opportunity to engage in the many experiential programs that are defining moments in our school.

Elad Ben Eli

Elad Ben Eli

Director of Athletics and Student Life

Elad has been part of the Herzliah community for the past 15 years. He has a Bachelors in Human Relations and a Masters in Educational Leadership. Elad has been coaching for over 20 years and is heavily invested in our students and the continuity of our Jewish Community. He expanded and enhanced the Herzliah athletics program which boasts awards in basketball, ice and floor hockey, track and field, swimming and more. His focus is on sportsmanship, often modelling tenacity, resilience and passion for sports and for developing student community experience opportunities.

During Elad’s tenure at Herzliah, he inspired students to create the new logo for our Herzliah Lions. He and the students have also designed our sports uniform, spirit wear and were responsible for the “birth” of our very energetic and charismatic mascot “Leo”.
