Ouriel Soudry '91 '96

President

He is a graduate of John Molson School of Business and a practicing Chartered Professional Accountant for the last 15 years. Ouriel is an audit partner at PSB Boisjoli where he helps his clients navigate and keep apace of new and ever-changing accounting, assurance, and taxation standards. Ouriel participated in both the CSUQ Leadership Program and the Federation CJA’s Leadership Development Program. Ouriel and his wife Michaela, an active member of the Home and School, have five young children. As an alumni of both Talmud Torah and Herzliah, he is committed to the long-term viability and success of both institutions.

He is a graduate of l’Université de Montréal with a degree in Law. He is currently the Director Public Affairs & Communications at Pharmascience. With over 13 years of combined experience in law, government, communications, stakeholder relations and nonprofit management, he’s had the opportunity to work in both the private and public sectors. Steeve has been actively involved with many organizations in the Jewish community both in a volunteer and professional capacity. He is also a proud graduate of U.T.T and Herzliah. Steeve and his wife Jessica have four young children, three who are students at Talmud Torah.

Dina Raphael

Secretary

Dina was born and raised in Montreal, her parents immigrated from Egypt and strongly believed that Montreal would give all the best opportunities to their family and that education is key to success. This is the main reason why Dina chose to give back to the community by being a board member and serving on the executive committee of our school. Dina is married to Eric and together they have two children, Noah who just entered Cegep at Brebeuf and Ariel who is in grade 8 at Herzliah.

Dina is a lawyer and Associate General Counsel at BMO Bank of Montreal where she leads the team that supports the Bank for all litigation, employment and regulatory matters in Canada and manages legal and reputation risks. Dina is also responsable for the legal team that supports the Quebec Division – personal and commercial banking groups. Dina and her team received several accolades and recognitions over the past years. Prior to joining BMO in 2013, Dina was a partner in the Litigation Group at Lavery where she practiced for 15 years.

Dina is a board member of Pro Bono Quebec and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Advocate Society. She was a member of the Young Leaders Circle of the Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation for 6 years.

Jordana Bernstein '08

Treasurer

Jordana is a proud second-generation graduate of Herzliah, she holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy, a Graduate Diploma in Chartered Professional Accountancy (CPA), and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business. Jordana is a Senior Manager in audit and assurance at Deloitte and works closely with clients in the private and not-for-profit sectors. Jordana is passionate about contributing to the community through ensuring the future viability of the Azrieli Schools and supporting the creation of an enriching academic, extracurricular and social environment that empowers the future leaders of the Jewish community.

Dana Caplan Goodman

Dana graduated from Smith College in Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Upon her return to Montreal, she attended McGill Law School, graduating with both a Common Law and Civil Law degree. Dana is a dedicated community fundraiser and volunteer, chairing and participating in various events and leadership programs. She is a devoted mother of three children and has always been deeply active in their respective schools. From the Foundation Preschool of the Shaar Hashomayim, to the Akiva School, and now Herzliah, where her 2 older children will be attending. Along with her husband Jonathan, Dana believes that excellent Jewish education is the key to Jewish continuity.

Ilana Edery

Ilana Edery has four children, three of them are already enrolled in Talmud Torah and Herzliah and the youngest will enter Talmud Torah in 2 years B’H.

Ilana is a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant), graduated from HEC Montreal with a BAA in Public Accounting and a Graduate Diploma in Public Accounting in 2007. Her career path: Nexia Friedman (2005-2018) then at Ernst & Young until 2020 and since then at Dahan & Associates. Her clientele is composed mainly of small and medium-sized private sector companies and incorporated professionals. She works closely with all of her clients to keep them on top of new accounting and tax standards.

Ilana has been very involved with the CSUQ as Treasurer from 2013-2018. She organized the « Tech Shuk 2019 » event for JNF Future and served on the JNF Finance Committee in 2020. She is an active member in Sephardic philanthropy of CJA and Federation CJA and has been a mentor for ProMontreal/Ometz since 2017.

Howard Liebman '85 '90

Howard Liebman ’85 ’90 is a graduate of both Talmud Torah and Herzliah. He went on to study at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and then graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce (’95) and the national program in Law (’99). Howard articled at McMillan Binch in Toronto (’00) and was called to the Bar in Ontario (’01) before returning to Montreal and being called to the Bar of Quebec (’02). After practicing corporate law at Stikeman Elliott LLP for several years, Howard started a new career in public service and was appointed Parliamentary Chief of Staff and Executive Assistant to the Hon. Irwin Cotler, then Justice Minister & Attorney General of Canada, where he served for 11 years. In 2015, Howard was appointed Special Advisor to Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre, with responsibility for the city’s international and inter-governmental relations. In 2018, Howard was appointed Senior Director, Government and Community Affairs at Transat A.T., a leading international integrated tourism company, parent of Air Transat. Howard has been an active and engaged member of the community since his student days. Howard and his wife Heather, an educator in the EMSB, have three boys, two of whom are attending Herzliah.

Steve Sebag

Steve was born and raised in Montreal and is a proud Jewish Quebecer and Canadian that has always felt that this city, and country, had everything, potholes and taxes omitted, to be the best place in the world to juggle a successful career with a great quality of life and offer a wonderful opportunity to raise a Jewish family. Steve is married to Sonia and they have 2 beautiful girls Mikah and Emily aged 6 and 5. Mikah goes to UTT and her younger sister will follow her this year, as is the case with everything she does!

Steve is a partner in private wealth management boutique called Pavilion Investment House and acts like a family’s quarterback, providing them with peace of mind and helping them achieve their financial and lifestyle objectives.  

Steve started volunteering through Hillel. Over the last 7-8 years, he has spent most of his charitable time in various roles at Federation CJA where he now sits on the board of directors. Steve is the president of GenMtl, the department of FCJA geared to the 18-41 cohort. Steve is the founding co-chair of FIX, a program aimed at supporting young people in the Jewish community dealing with a spectrum of challenges and issues, especially addiction.

Steve is a member of the Wexner Heritage Program, a North American leadership group that wishes to expand the vision of Jewish volunteer leaders, deepen their Jewish knowledge and confidence and inspire them to exercise transformative leadership in the Jewish community.

Steve’s favorite movie has always been and will always be Gladiator for what it means in terms of leadership, conviction and courage.

Darren Yaphe

Darren holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Masters in Business Administration from McGill University. Upon graduation, Darren moved to Chicago where he spent five years working with Fortune 500 companies as a Strategic Management Consultant. Upon returning to Montreal, Darren served as Director of Marketing for Bell Mobility. In 2008, Darren joined LASIK MD as their Chief Marketing Officer, and has helped grow this business to over 45 clinics in Canada. He has volunteered and worked with many Jewish community organizations, most recently serving on the Federation CJA Inclusion Grants Committee. Darren and his wife Bonnie have 2 children – one at Herzliah and the other at Akiva School.
