Guidance Department

At Herzliah, we are committed to helping our students succeed academically, emotionally and socially. Our guidance department includes two mental health professionals and offers an abundance of psycho-educational programs. Beginning with the transition from elementary school into high school and moving through CEGEP applications and on to higher education. Our professionals focus on ensuring that both our students and their parents are informed and supported.

A student’s high school years are some of the most challenging and important in their educational career. At Herzliah we offer both counselling and guidance on an individual and group basis. These sessions seek to address psychological, social and academic issues that can range from problems with school work to bullying to health concerns such as depression.

CEGEP counselling is part of our Secondary V program, where each student (and parent if they so choose) meets with counsellors to explore individual options and to clarify the application process.

Sexuality Education is a new curriculum created by the Ministry of Quebec. This program was developed to demonstrate to our the importance of creating a safe space and an open dialogue around topics in sexuality. Each topic is developmentally appropriate for the age of the students.

We also offer grade level workshops for students on topics such as:

  • Mental health awareness
  • Bullying awareness
  • Healthy relationships
  • Confidence building
  • Mindfulness
  • Anxiety management and stress coping
  • Drug and alcohol awareness
  • Body image and self-esteem
  • Family difficulties
  • Social challenges
