Hebrew Language and Literature

Learning Hebrew is integral to our interdisciplinary Jewish studies program. Hebrew is the key to a rich, important literary library, from our precious ancient texts to poetry, novels, newspapers and essays. It is the language of our Bible and the language of Modern Israel.

The goal of the Hebrew Language and Literature program is to teach our students to speak fluently, read thoughtfully and write clearly in Hebrew, at different levels that meet the needs of our learners.

Literature, texts, modern day newspaper articles and magazines and film are all mixed media that are integrated into the Hebrew classes. The love of Israel is nurtured while students are able to appreciate of the cultural essence of the Jewish people today.

Graduates from Herzliah are proud of their linguistic ability in Hebrew and often talk about the memorable classes they experienced while at the school.
