Sports and Physical Education

Our program is designed to foster an interest in and love of physical fitness and healthy competitive play while at the same time instilling lifelong skills such as perseverance, good sportsmanship, and team spirit. Students have full access to a wide range of age- appropriate activities.

Our staff ensure that all of our units are based on teaching games for
understanding and progressing skills.

• Fundamental movement skills: throwing, catching, kicking, balance, skipping, running, hopping
• Cooperation games: learning teamwork, problem solving, communication and cooperation
• Invasion Games: Soccer, basketball, hockey, flag football
• Net and wall games: volleyball, tennis, badminton
• Health and Fitness: lessons and games with nutrition, safety, health and fitness

Exercise, a key to physical and emotional development, is promoted throughout the school. Teachers take the classes on daily walks outside, weather permitting and stretching and yoga has been introduced into the classrooms.
The athletics program provides ananchor for our students in terms ofvalues, ethical framing and community building.
