Our Kindergarten program sets our youngest students off on an exciting educational adventure of literacy, scientific exploration, problem solving skills and social development.  Our gentle, warm and nurturing teachers are able to ensure an optimal learning environment for the children. Classroom teaching is done in French, English and Hebrew and within a few short months our students are able to communicate in all three languages.

Throughout the Kindergarten year  we support student growth, development and acquisition of skills  through play and interaction. We are focused on developing skills for the whole child.

A day in the life of a Talmud Torah student

  • Robot programming
  • Science experiments
  • Yoga and dance
  • Fun literacy activities
  • Visual Arts, Drama and Music
  • And more!

Our regular school day is from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with an extended day program available until 5:30.

ROBOTICS:

Robotics is part of our STEM program and is a favourite among our Kindergarten students as they learn programming, coding, problem solving and robotics.  They build animated robots capable of interacting with their environments.  Working together, they discover the steps needed for a robot to function properly.  From monkeys playing the tambourines to sleeping giants robots that “wake up”, our students are integrating the basics of  science, technology, engineering and math into their learning.

SCIENCE:

Our students explore the world of science through hands on experiments.  The children observe, make predictions and verify hypotheses. These experiments are an integral part of a kindergartener’s weekly routine. Teachers use these fun science activities to encourage scientific enquiry and engage their curiosity.

LITERACY:

Literacy in English, French and Hebrew is a primary focus in our kindergarten classes. Students learn letter-sound recognition, first sound fluency, letter naming fluency, phonemic awareness through reading, writing, rhyming and more! Pre-literacy skills are tested three times a year to ensure each of our youngest students are meeting their benchmarks.  A resource program is in place to support all our students. Students strengthen skills with paired reading through the Daily 5. Some of our students are actually reading books in English and French by the end of Kindergarten!

ART AND MOVEMENT:

Our students explore various visual arts – clay, painting, drawing, collage and more.  These creative projects encourage students to express their individual styles and learn about the visual world that surrounds them. Our young students are engaged in drama, music with a specialist, instrumental musical through Suzuki Violin, dance and yoga on a weekly basis.
